Girl's day with my niece

I wanted to first start off by saying thank you so much for being excited with me about my last post. That felt great since I felt silly writing it, haha. It was also really nice to have some silent readers come out and be excited with me. But you know what was surprising? When I informed Sean that I had written 1000 posts I thought he would make a joke or something but he admitted that he was impressed. As much as he likes to tease me about this blog, I know he reads it and that's pretty awesome.

About a month ago, we went to Seans hometown for the weekend; so I made sure to have some one on one time with our niece. She had just turned 10 years old a month prior so I treated her to a shopping trip and we had such a good time. She was so proud to tell me that she is part of yearbook at her school and that part of her responsibility is taking pictures of her classmates. She also informed me that taking pictures of her classmates is her favorite part of yearbook. And guess what she said about why she loves taking pictures? She said its because of me! This might be a slight exaggeration but I think my heart swelled.

Its difficult for it not to swell when someone says they have an interest in something because of you. Its incredible to me that she has a love of photography because of me. I know that she is going to do great things with whatever she chooses to do in the future, but wouldnt it be amazing if that is the career she pursues as an adult? I think it would be!

Being able to see her grow from a tiny person that I use to play paddy cake with to now having a full on conversation over lunch at McDonalds (her request) will always be one of my favorite things.

Of course, I always bring my camera for her to play with when I visit. I love how careful she is with it because I tell her my camera is my baby, ha. I cant say that I ever pulled out my camera at McDonald's before this, but it was definitely the most fun I've ever had at McDonald's. And I also learned that I'll probably forever love McDonald's fries. I know, I know. I watched the videos of people smoking their fries, but I still kinda love them, haha. Everything in moderation, even McDonald's fries. Except for their Oreo McFlurrys with extra Oreos, always and forever, amen. Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored by McDonald's but I'm sure you already know that because I probably wouldn't have mentioned being able to smoke their fries. All opinions are 100% mine ;).

After lunch we were driving back to my in-laws and saw that on the sidewalk there were tons of fallen leaves. Imagine my surprise when Nadiyah asked for us to pull over to take some pictures. A girl after my own heart! And that short stop was the topping to our girl's day. We had so much fun just laughing and being ridiculous together. When we got back to my car she said, "Auntie Faith thank you so much for today, I had so much fun". OK, my heart really swelled then.

When we got back Sean's mom asked for a fashion show.
And well, whatever grandma asks for, grandma gets :)

Nadiyah was the first one to make me an aunt and because of that she gets to brag that she was my flower girl when she was two. Ive made sure to take my role as aunt very seriously with all my nieces and nephews but theres a few things that I can do with her that I cant do with my other niece and nephews yet, just because shes older. Is it strange to say we are kindred spirits since she is only 10 years old? Because I truly think so. I dont want her to grow up so quickly but I also know that she is going to make us all so proud. She is an incredible young girl and Im excited to see all the amazing things shes going to do with her precious life.
