Good food & good music

Image
I dont think there are many more things that are better than good food & good music. I truly believe that food & music can often play a role in putting someone in a great mood or a foul mood. For instance, I know that when I hear a song that I use to listen to when I was a kid, it just brings me back to that exact moment and often times I cant help but get the silliest grin on my face. Anyway, this brunch date with Cinthia on an extremely cold, spring day (not bitter) did just that. It transported me back to New Orleans where I was stuffing my piehole with delicious foods while listening to live jazz music. And what a great time we had! Live jazz, bottomless mimosas, the cheesiest mac and cheese, lightly toasted cornbread, fried green tomatoes, NOLA shrimp and warm beignets. We felt like we ordered it all but truthfully, we hardly touched the surface of the menu. This wasnt our first time at The Bayou but it was just as enjoyable as the first time. I feel like we w...

Philly Rabbit Run + some fun

Image
When Sean and I sat down to talk about our goals for 2018 earlier this year, fitness and health was at the top. So, when Sean found the Philly Rabbit Run that was taking place late March, in Philadelphia, he suggested we do it. And because it was still so early in the year, I was all ears. Granted, I didnt think that I would actually be able to do it but it sounded like a good idea. Additionally, Sean's best friend's mom has Parkinson's (which is what the run was for) so it made even more sense for us to do it. When I was healthier (no leg issues) I did not run any 5Ks so it seemed a little overzealous that with my current condition that 1.) I would even be able to do it and 2.) I would actually want to do it. Well, I did it. It was hard, it was intense, my legs were burning but I did it and Ive never felt so proud and accomplished. It was exhilarating and although my time was not amazing it was under 45 minutes which is what I wanted. I actually was aiming for 50 mi...

2018 Philadelphia Auto Show

Image
OK, I'll admit it. We had every intention of not going out to eat in any restaurant for the whole month of January but we broke on January 27th. Let me explain. The weather was so nice that day and we had done extremely well with not spending money on unnecessary things, that we kinda had a treat ourselves moment. Sean loves cars and when he heard that Philly was having a auto show he insisted that we go. And well, who says no to Philly? I've never been much of a car person but this auto show quite possibly has made me one. We saw some absolutely incredible cars! We also saw a few famous vehicles from television shows from our childhoods. The ones that were of interest to us were Kit from The Knight Rider, the Scooby Doo van and the A-Team's van. I'll admit that I was pretty excited to see those vehicles in person. After checking out so many cars we got hungry so we had lunch at Jimmy G's for an amazing philly cheese steak. When in Philly ... The...
