Sunday Dinner

Image
On Sundays, Sean leaves home by 3pm to head to work but this Sunday he had the entire day off. What topped it off was that it was Easter Sunday which is incredibly special on its own. HE IS RISEN! When we realized that Sean had Easter Sunday off we picked up a turkey and decided that wed make a special dinner which to be honest closely resembles our Thanksgiving dinner. Sean peeled the potatoes and cut the vegetables whist I cooked up quite the storm. My kitchen was squeaky clean when I started cooking and its amazing how much of a disaster it looked like afterwards. I do not like going to bed with dishes in the sink but I made an exception that evening as our dishwasher just could not fit it all. It'll be running mad for a few days. We ended our Sunday dinner with dessert (cookies and cream ice cream, yum!) and began a new show on Netflix. I hope you had a wonderful Easter with the ones you love! ♥

Sunday dinner

As I mentioned in a previous post, for the month of January we are doing a spending freeze on unnecessary purchases. Upon deciding this we also agreed that date nights at restaurants for the month of January would also be eliminated. We even went a step further and also decided that we wouldnt drink any alcohol for the month of January to help assist with our no spend January. Its not difficult to notice that a bottle of wine here and there does eventually add up but if Im to be honest, I dont think this is something wed continue during our no spend months because theres nothing like a nice glass of wine on the weekends. Sunday dinners for the month of January have felt like date nights and it has actually been really nice. Granted we dont go the extra step by dressing up for dinner but to be honest, whats better than being able to eat a delicious home cooked meal while dressed in your favorite, old and rather ratty tee-shirt? Not much, right? This particular Sunday dinner ...

Happy New Year!

Image
Yesterday, Sean and I spent quite some time discussing and writing down what our expectations and goals are for the new year. It was nice to also see it written down on paper. It is always refreshing how a brand new year brings so much hope for what's to come and what we intend to do to get there. I feel like I'm prepared for all that 2018 will bring our way and I hope that you are too. I truly wish you all the happiest and healthiest New Year! ♥

Celebrating 8 years ?

Image
Last month, Sean and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. We decided to check out a new to us winery and we both agreed that it was nice to try a new winery ( Mountain View Vineyard ). It was great that we both could see ourselves making many trips back especially when the weather warms up again. I was also surprised to find that it was the same distance as my favorite winery which I post about often on this blog. The views were beautiful even on a rather grey day and they had a large patio area which I can't wait to get use of come spring and summer. We did a wine tasting first to figure out our favorites and then purchased several bottles. We purchased one to enjoy at the winery and then a few more for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. We also ordered a few small plates to eat and I love that they actually had a real menu to order food versus just appetizers. Our food was tasty too! After the winery we went home and napped for a couple of hours and then got ready...

Slow Mornings

Image
Ive always been a morning person. My mom knew it and because of that I was always the first person she would wake in the morning. I was that child that would just jump right out of bed without any resistance. Since I can remember, Ive always welcomed a new morning. There is just something about all the possibilities that a brand new day brings. Almost like starting fresh daily. Even now, as an adult, I am not a snoozer. My alarm goes off and I get up immediately. However, weekend mornings are my favorite because you can really relish it. I usually only drink coffee on Saturday or Sunday but it is so nice to begin the day with a mug of coffee either hot or cold depending on the season. I also enjoy spending more time making breakfast and this particular morning called for chocolate chip pancakes with bacon. Sean on bacon duty and me on pancake duty. Some weekend mornings, when I'm not really in the mood to make a big breakfast, it's all about the bagels from our favor...

Birthday fun in the fall

Image
The night before my birthday, Sean and a few of his co-workers had plans to go to the city to have some good ole fun at Dave & Busters. Sean asked for me to come along and I of course did not say no. We took the train into the city and I had a good time getting to know Seans co-workers during the train ride. We had dinner and then spent the next several hours playing games, running around like kids and getting as many tickets as we could. Sean and I ended up giving all our "earned" tickets to a little girl who excitedly exclaimed that it was her birthday. Of course, I told her that all the best girls are born in October ;). It was seriously such a good time and something I wish we did more of. When it was time to head back to the train, the clock had already struck midnight which meant that it was my birthday. I could not think of a better place to spend my last day as a 34 year old and my first day as a 35 year old. There is truly no place like home and no matte...
