Sunday Dinner

On Sundays, Sean leaves home by 3pm to head to work but this Sunday he had the entire day off. What topped it off was that it was Easter Sunday which is incredibly special on its own. HE IS RISEN! When we realized that Sean had Easter Sunday off we picked up a turkey and decided that wed make a special dinner which to be honest closely resembles our Thanksgiving dinner. Sean peeled the potatoes and cut the vegetables whist I cooked up quite the storm. My kitchen was squeaky clean when I started cooking and its amazing how much of a disaster it looked like afterwards. I do not like going to bed with dishes in the sink but I made an exception that evening as our dishwasher just could not fit it all. It'll be running mad for a few days. We ended our Sunday dinner with dessert (cookies and cream ice cream, yum!) and began a new show on Netflix. I hope you had a wonderful Easter with the ones you love! ♥

As I mentioned in a previous post, for the month of January we are doing a spending freeze on unnecessary purchases. Upon deciding this we also agreed that date nights at restaurants for the month of January would also be eliminated. We even went a step further and also decided that we wouldnt drink any alcohol for the month of January to help assist with our no spend January. Its not difficult to notice that a bottle of wine here and there does eventually add up but if Im to be honest, I dont think this is something wed continue during our no spend months because theres nothing like a nice glass of wine on the weekends. Sunday dinners for the month of January have felt like date nights and it has actually been really nice. Granted we dont go the extra step by dressing up for dinner but to be honest, whats better than being able to eat a delicious home cooked meal while dressed in your favorite, old and rather ratty tee-shirt? Not much, right? This particular Sunday dinner ...

I said not too long ago, that I'd post Sunday dinners in this post . Well, I haven't done too well and it's mostly because I've forgotten. I've been (for the most part) making sure that Sean and I are sitting down together for Sunday dinner for the last couple of months. A few weeks ago, Sean had to work on Sunday so we pushed "Sunday" dinner to Friday night. The weather was unseasonably warm so Sean warmed up the grill and we had a delicious grilled meal on the deck with a lot of leftovers to enjoy for the week. Cooler weather is finally knocking on our doors and I'll admit that I'm going to miss our simple evenings of enjoying time out on our deck. But regardless of the weather and the fact that we'll actually have to eat in our dining area, our Sunday dinners have become one of the things I find myself looking forward to every week. I hope you all had wonderful weekends! ♥

Sean and Is schedules are complete opposites and now that he is working in Jersey again he is gone 3-4 days out of the week. It also doesnt help that two of his days off I am busy working. I will admit that because of this when we are together there is no nitpicking or nagging, haha. Because Ill be honest, sometimes I just cant let that annoying thing he did go without some mention. Now that hes gone for most of the week, it is hard for me to find something to nag him about. We truly make the most of our time together and I'm finding myself wishing throughout the week that he was home when hes not around. Due to our schedules, it isnt often that we are able to have a meal together at home; so were making it a new tradition for us to have Sunday dinner at home before Sean leaves for Jersey. It was so nice to just sit down, eat and talk when our mouths were not full. Just the two of us. So who knows? Maybe this will be a new series on the blog where I just have a post ...
