Good food & good music

Image
I dont think there are many more things that are better than good food & good music. I truly believe that food & music can often play a role in putting someone in a great mood or a foul mood. For instance, I know that when I hear a song that I use to listen to when I was a kid, it just brings me back to that exact moment and often times I cant help but get the silliest grin on my face. Anyway, this brunch date with Cinthia on an extremely cold, spring day (not bitter) did just that. It transported me back to New Orleans where I was stuffing my piehole with delicious foods while listening to live jazz music. And what a great time we had! Live jazz, bottomless mimosas, the cheesiest mac and cheese, lightly toasted cornbread, fried green tomatoes, NOLA shrimp and warm beignets. We felt like we ordered it all but truthfully, we hardly touched the surface of the menu. This wasnt our first time at The Bayou but it was just as enjoyable as the first time. I feel like we w...

Spring made an appearance!

Image
Guys, we finally got spring like weather (80s!!!) and we made sure to take advantage of it. Good thing too because we are back in the 40s & 50s this week. Not nice spring, not nice. We first enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the deck and then went to the gym for a workout. We had big plans to work on our front and back yards after the gym as Mr. Sean did not rake up the leaves last fall. Since it was going to be such a nice day, I decided that I'd help him, ha. I know how that sounds but I love informing everyone that Im responsible for the inside cleaning & hes responsible for the outside cleaning, also known as, raking, mowing, shoveling, etc. Anyway, regardless of how much work it was, it was actually very enjoyable & I believe our workouts earlier in the day helped to give us the energy we needed to work several hours in the front and back yards. But let's be honest, with the weather being so nice it made me want to be outside all day. The dogs were lovin...

Sunday Dinner

Image
On Sundays, Sean leaves home by 3pm to head to work but this Sunday he had the entire day off. What topped it off was that it was Easter Sunday which is incredibly special on its own. HE IS RISEN! When we realized that Sean had Easter Sunday off we picked up a turkey and decided that wed make a special dinner which to be honest closely resembles our Thanksgiving dinner. Sean peeled the potatoes and cut the vegetables whist I cooked up quite the storm. My kitchen was squeaky clean when I started cooking and its amazing how much of a disaster it looked like afterwards. I do not like going to bed with dishes in the sink but I made an exception that evening as our dishwasher just could not fit it all. It'll be running mad for a few days. We ended our Sunday dinner with dessert (cookies and cream ice cream, yum!) and began a new show on Netflix. I hope you had a wonderful Easter with the ones you love! ♥

A Spring Mimosa Tasting Brunch

Image
I threw a mimosa tasting brunch for a few of my PA girlfriends last weekend and we had such a good time! Now that the weather is warming up, I get this urge to host more at home. When I woke up, I immediately checked the weather and luckily although it was raining heavily it was noted that the rain would stop by 11am. My brunch was scheduled for 11:30am and by 10:30am the sun was out in full force. Because of that all our outdoor furniture dried so we were able to eat out on the deck like I planned. I made a simple egg muffin recipe that I found on Pinterest and it was ridiculously easy and so good. I picked up bottles of champagne, juices, bagels, three flavors of cream cheese and a few treats and invited the girls over for some girl chat, food and mimosas. Brunch is so much easier (and less expensive!) to host so I'm not surprised that I see a lot more of these in the future. I picked up four different containers of juice; of course orange juice as it is the classic. I als...

Three day weekends ?

Image
Thank you to the men and women who sacrificed it all to ensure that each day I can wake up and live a life full of freedoms that so many do not have. ------------------ I'm the biggest advocate of three day weekends. Two day weekends are just not enough. It's amazing how much better you feel on Sunday when you know you have an additional day off. The weather forecast completely threw us off. We had plans leading up to the weekend but then the weather forecast had us believing that we were going to have non-stop rain all weekend. Last Thursday, the plans I made with Cinthia were scratched because they were all outdoor activities. Then Saturday arrives and it is a beautiful day! I called Cinthia to see if we could do what we planned and unfortunately because we thought we would be indoors all weekend she had just started painting her upstairs. So, Sean and I decided to go to the farmers' market for breakfast sandwiches and to pick up a few things for us to grill that ev...
