Rhys' (1st) Nautical Birthday Party

My adorable nephew turned one a few weeks ago and my sister and brother in law threw the sweetest nautical birthday party for him. I really would like to ramble on and on about how quickly time flies and how I feel like he was just born but yeah, I'm pretty sure y'all don't want to read about that ... or maybe you do? ;)

OK, where should I start? I think I'll start at the cake since that tends to be the focal point at every party. I also happened to take one million pictures of it. Judge me. My sister designed the cake and my girlfriend Margaret executed it to perfection. It also tasted amazing! My girlfriend also made the cupcakes and cookies. It was her first time making cookies (and she was so nervous) so I�m disappointed that I did not get any pictures during the party! I'm not sure exactly how that happened to be honest. I did make sure to take a picture of the cookie I went home with but I wish I had remembered since she made so many different designs for the cookies. There were sailboats, seashells, starfishes, anchors, lifesavers, dolphins and of course the number one!

We had delicious Indian food (we love Indian food in our family!), amazing sangria and all the goodies that one could want. There was also a fun photo booth that we all could not resist taking dorky pictures in front of.

It was such a fun and gorgeous birthday party. My sister thought of all the details including my nephew�s getup which I might be bias, but man, he is beautiful! I enjoy being with my family so much that it is hard to keep the smile off my face. Family is everything.

New Orleans: Evening jazz cruise

On our third evening in NOLA, we went on Steamboat Natchez for their evening jazz cruise. It is a two hour cruise ride along the Mississippi River and it was just so beautiful. We had dinner on the boat and although the food was nothing to write home about the overall experience was such a great one. The music, the views, the people... it was truly just a lovely experience. We experienced the loveliest sunset and just being able to see it and be in that moment was just one of the reasons why it really is so grand to be alive. Too many pictures were taken, even Sean wanted to take pictures and well, I don�t think you can blame us too much. Many of my pictures turned out like the one below because of the humidity. My lens would fog up immediately. It truly was such a great evening and one that I will not soon forget.

Good food & good music

I don�t think there are many more things that are better than good food & good music. I truly believe that food & music can often play a role in putting someone in a great mood or a foul mood. For instance, I know that when I hear a song that I use to listen to when I was a kid, it just brings me back to that exact moment and often times I can�t help but get the silliest grin on my face. Anyway, this brunch date with Cinthia on an extremely cold, spring day (not bitter) did just that. It transported me back to New Orleans where I was stuffing my piehole with delicious foods while listening to live jazz music. And what a great time we had! Live jazz, bottomless mimosas, the cheesiest mac and cheese, lightly toasted cornbread, fried green tomatoes, NOLA shrimp and warm beignets. Spring made an appearance!

Guys, we finally got spring like weather (80s!!!) and we made sure to take advantage of it. Good thing too because we are back in the 40s & 50s this week. Not nice spring, not nice. We first enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the deck and then went to the gym for a workout. We had big plans to work on our front and back yards after the gym as Mr. Sean did not rake up the leaves last fall. Since it was going to be such a nice day, I decided that I'd help him, ha. I know how that sounds but I love informing everyone that I�m responsible for the inside cleaning & he�s responsible for the outside cleaning, also known as, raking, mowing, shoveling, etc. Anyway, regardless of how much work it was, it was actually very enjoyable & I believe our workouts earlier in the day helped to give us the energy we needed to work several hours in the front and back yards.
