Three day weekends ?

Image
Thank you to the men and women who sacrificed it all to ensure that each day I can wake up and live a life full of freedoms that so many do not have. ------------------ I'm the biggest advocate of three day weekends. Two day weekends are just not enough. It's amazing how much better you feel on Sunday when you know you have an additional day off. The weather forecast completely threw us off. We had plans leading up to the weekend but then the weather forecast had us believing that we were going to have non-stop rain all weekend. Last Thursday, the plans I made with Cinthia were scratched because they were all outdoor activities. Then Saturday arrives and it is a beautiful day! I called Cinthia to see if we could do what we planned and unfortunately because we thought we would be indoors all weekend she had just started painting her upstairs. So, Sean and I decided to go to the farmers' market for breakfast sandwiches and to pick up a few things for us to grill that ev

Update.

Last year, around this time I was just getting back into the swing of things. I was back to work, able to walk and exercise and getting my strength back. Best of all, I was off narcotics! I was still on blood thinners but at least not on narcotics. My left leg was still pretty weak and if I sat down for more than an hour, when I got up I limped for about five minutes before my stride returned to normal. How am I now? I am off the blood thinners! The filter that was placed in my chest has been removed. For the most part, I am back to who I was before my complications last year. My left leg is not the same, not sure that it ever will be. It still swells and I need to wear compression stockings for the rest of my life. Although, Ive learned that if Im going to be moving for most of the day, I can go without (hallelujah!). At work, I have to wear it since I work a desk job and sit for most of the day. If I dont wear it at work my leg swells considerably and I'm uncomfortab

Summer Bucket List.

A few weeks ago, Cinthia and I decided to come up with a bucket list for our summer. I know, silly, but we are pretty excited for this summer because last summer I was kinda out of commission and she worked a second job so we didnt really get to do much. This summer, were changing all of that. I figured I share our summer bucket list (inspired by Pinterest) and who knows; maybe youll be inspired to do a few of these things with the amazing girlfriends in your life. 1. Attend a state fair and eat all the fried things 2. Buy matching sunglasses 3. Have a picnic at a nearby park 4. Play with animals at the local shelter 5. Go strawberry picking 6. Go to the farmers market 7. Make new summery cocktail recipes 8. Have a water balloon fight 9. Blow bubbles 10. Make boozy popsicles 11. Collect seashells 12. Have a beach day 13. See an action movie 14. Take a road trip 15. Stay up till dawn 16. Go to a music festival 17. Have a barbeque 18. Play pool 19. Sing in the car with the windows

I'm back from a weekend getaway to Fort Launderdale and boy do I need to detox. I don't know why I have to be so extra and believe that calories don't count on the weekends or on vacations. They certainly do as I'm carrying more pounds than I did before we left. It took me less than 4 days to pack them on and will take me 4 weeks to get them off. Funny how that works. Any who, moving along for the purpose of this post ... A few Sundays ago, Sean and I traveled to Connecticut (my sister moved from Queens earlier this year!) to see my nephew get dedicated at their church. It was truly a beautiful dedication. Bonus points was their pastor allowing my niece to share a couple of her jokes to the congregation. "Why did the banana go to the hospital?" Pause. "Because it wasn't peeling well". "Why is six afraid of seven?" Pause. "Because seven, eight (ate) nine". At one point during his dedication, Rhys thought it would be a g

Spring evenings.

One of my favorite things to do when the weather gets warm is grill; or better yet when Sean grills because Lord knows Ive never operated a grill before. I like my eyebrows whereas Sean doesn't seem to care too much about his. Everything just tastes better on the grill and it also cuts down on my cooking time so its a win all around. The first time we use the grill in the season we make it a big deal. We go all out (burger, steak, chicken, shrimp) even though its just the two of us. We get a bottle of wine (bonus if it's from my favorite local winery) & enjoy our grilled dinner al fresco. The dogs have a field day sitting beside us waiting for food to accidently drop but luckily for them there are always extras. Im looking forward to more evenings spent on our deck/patio, dining al fresco while also drinking slightly chilled wines. What are you looking forward to this Spring? Happy Wednesday!
