Scenes from Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

I shared in the previous post that I wasn't feeling the joy that the Christmas season usually brings. That changed on Christmas Eve. Usually, Sean and I do our Christmas Eve together. We order Chinese takeout and get a nice bottle of wine. We open stocking gifts and give the fur-babies their Christmas gifts as well. Then we watch "Love Actually" my favorite Christmas movie. Sean usually falls asleep but I watch it as though it is my first time. If we both are up to it we watch a classic like Home Alone (the first one, always!) and when I know that Sean is really done for the night I'll pop in other Christmas movies like "The Holiday". When Sean said that he wanted us to drive to Upstate NY the day before Christmas Eve, I'll admit that I was bummed but I went along with it. It's a 4+ hour drive to my in-laws and unfortunately we could not start the trip until 6pm so we didn't reach our hotel until 10:30pm. We checked in, situated the dogs i...

How wonderful life is while you're in the world

Today marks exactly two years from when I was hospitalized due to a DVT in my left leg. It�s incredible how much that experience really changed my outlook on life and how because of it, it�s rare that you�ll hear me complain about anything. That experience reiterated for me just how unpredictable life is. One day you�re fine and the next you�re at death�s door. It taught me that so many of the worries I had, wouldn�t be worries in the following year, so what was the point of worrying so much? It revealed to me how much I would appreciate exercising because my body could actually do so. It was hard to see how my body had gone from doing everything on its own and then needing assistance for simple things like literally getting out of bed. It taught me how much I appreciate working because I could physically get into my car, drive the distance and sit at my desk to work. It�s not easy being told that you are not even physically fit to do a sedentary job. It was hard to feel that e...

Scenes from the weekend.

Last weekend was such a good one and even though this weekend is already upon us, I felt the need to recap it like I use to do in my early days of blogging. For Sean's birthday he had one request; and it was that we go to the shooting range. I was apprehensive but because it was his birthday request, I took a half day last Friday and we went to the shooting range. It was my first time shooting a gun and this girl was scared. I did hit my target twice so that was kinda neat. Sean was a pro. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, ha. Saturday afternoon, Sean booked a couple massage and it was incredible. I felt so loose and like any tension I had in my body was erased. It is something that we both agreed that we should do regularly. Saturday night we went out with some of Sean's co-workers and we had a really good time.
