Random Thursday Morning Ramblings.

Im thrilled for a three day weekend but still feeling bummed that Labor Day weekend usually marks the end of summer. I know that we still have a few good weeks of sun and warmth but at night when youre able to sleep without central air its a little reminder. But Im also thinking of little things that have me excited for the next few weeks. Sean and I are going to our local fair tomorrow. I haven't gone in a couple of years so I'm excited for cotton candy and possibly some fried dough. My sister (Priscilla) is holding her annual Labor Day weekend barbeque this weekend so Im excited to see her and my nephew. My baby nephew Rhys turns one in one week so I'm excited to celebrate him very soon! Tell me, how is he one already?! So yeah, a bunch of little excitements sprinkled here. I just realized I used the word excited a lot in this paragraph. I'm sorry. I guess, I'm excited? ;) Before we left for New Orleans we got a new tenant to rent the downstairs apartm

Summer Bucket List: Try a new restaurant

Image
I cannot believe that summer is almost over. It went by so quickly! I know it happens every year but now when I head out for work in the morning (6:30am) it isn't as bright outside; and it's making me wish for summer to start all over again. I'm going to savor these last few weeks of summer; dining al fresco, grilling, spending evenings on our deck drinking chilled wine and maybe get in one last beach day. Basically doing all the things I'm going to miss once these temperatures go down. OK, moving on. Part of our summer bucket list was to try a new restaurant. We had this restaurant marked for over six months and so when we finally had the chance to visit you can say we were pretty excited. Unfortunately, for us, it was a big letdown. Our food was just not good. I was so excited for my mac n cheese but it was soooo bland. Cinthias egg dish sounded like it was going to be incredible based on the description on the menu but it was basically just eggs soaked in t

Summer Bucket List: Blow bubbles

Image
When Cinthia and I made our summer bucket list we were quite sure that it would be so easy to accomplish. Only problem is that we did not factor in that summer weekends get booked so quickly and that with us both being working gals it just wasnt going to be as easy to accomplish. Upon realizing that, we decided to give ourselves until the end of fall to accomplish. Naturally, Sean and I picked up bubbles (and water guns) for the kids that would attend our annual summer BBQ because I cant remember anything more delightful than blowing bubbles when I was a kid. Funny enough, blowing bubbles is on our silly summer bucket list and when it dawned on us, outside to my deck we went to blow bubbles. My sister, Emma (love you!) took pictures of us being silly blowing bubbles. There is something just so simple but fun about blowing bubbles. It takes me back to a time when life was so carefree and my only true worries were not being able to stay up late, being forced to eat brussel spro

Waste of spaces.

I often want this space on the internet to be light and fun but it is also my diary of sorts and I cant leave it blank from whats going on in our world. Lets just say that Im at the angry stage. I was in disbelief at first (not sure why because America) but now Im pissed. And the issue isn't even that I'm pissed, the issue is, why aren't you? The thing is that when youre a black person living in America, youve already dealt with a lot of issues that people can only imagine; and sometimes they can't even do that. Its being followed when youre in the store because of the color of your skin, its white people telling you that you dont talk like a black person as though theres a way to know what a black person sounds like, it's being told that youre pretty for a black girl by more than one white person, its being told that you got the job because of affirmative action; when in fact white women are the ones who have benefited the most from affirmative ac

Annual Summer BBQ

Image
I am finding myself so behind on blog posts. I would say Im working on it but Ive been saying that for a while & look where we are. One month ago today, Sean and I held our annual summer BBQ. Our house had never been so packed before. At first, I worried that we wouldnt be able to house so many people since our house is not big by any means but it worked out really well. We rented tables and chairs to go in our backyard but it was really hot that day so it was no surprise that besides the kiddos everyone wanted to be indoors with the central air. We filled up the kiddie pool, handed out water guns and water balloons to keep the kids entertained and we found that, that was all they needed. We also had never had so many kids in our house before and wow, did our house come alive! Let's not mention all the dcor that was moved from hands reach. Every single mom in attendance had a part in moving something from our tables and it was pretty funny to watch. I wont lie, wh

My sister's wedding reception ?

It has taken me a little while to get these pictures up because sometimes I make my own self crazy with the amount of pictures I take. Granted, I don't have to share so many of them on here but yeah ... Any who, I'm sure you already know, but uploading pictures into a blog post takes a lot of time and often times I would rather be doing something else. The thing is that I love having this blog to look back on moments, which often help me refresh my memory, so I just do it. And to be honest, Ive never regretted it. In fact, there are some pictures/events that I just completely did not post because of pure laziness and that I regret. So, I suck it up and do it because I know that 85 year old Faith wants to know that there was a time that she wore bootay shorts ;). I also love, love, love taking pictures. I dont think there is any other hobby of mine that I enjoy more than this. It might seem a little strange but I truly feel like myself when I have a camera in my hands. T
